Fishing the downriver side of a steep drop (29 to 51 feet) in heavy current, I was using a #3 XD in silver tipped with a large shiner minnow. I like to use the spinner to add flash and I jig this along the drop, touching the bottom and raising it slightly. The lure suddenly got heavy and I set the hook on what was obviously a very big fish. It took about 20 minutes to get the fish to the boat and nearly everything I had to lift this 64 lb 1 oz monster into the boat. After weighing, measuring, and photographing her, I released her and hope she will continue spawing for years to come. Luckily, there was another boat nearby and a very nice fisherman took the picture for me.
