I was casting up from 13ft of water into about 4 or 5ft of water along the edge of a reed bed for pike, and this big smally just hammered the Mepps, I set the hook viciously and the smally first dove down deep which made me think it was a pike and then rocketed up and about 3-1/2 feet out of the water and when it landed it shot towards the boat and under it into the deeper water. After about 8 or 9 minutes, this beauty wore itself out and we were able to net it! The next day, I got a 6 pound northern in the same spot with the same lure, after this fishing trip it was time to retire this particular lure because the skirt has been nearly completely torn away, but you bet I'll be buying several more of these before my next trip!!
Good luck to everyone!
