Recent rains had the river running very high; I needed a bait that would get down into the strike zone--Xtra Deep.
This redeye bass hit the instant that I began to draw the lure from the water. The force of his strike, combined with the motion of my rod coming up away from the water, literally flipped the fish onto the bank. He was very irritated and I struggled to take this picture while the fight that usually lasts some time in the water took place on land. I quickly got him back into the water and he gave me a bon voyage tail splash that left me wet but smiling.
