We were anchored in 3' of water facing a steep drop off with a nice weed bed. My son had spotted a very large fish from the front of the canoe before we anchored. I got out my Mepps Pike Killer Kit and selected a #5 Aglia. Several casts later, I hooked a fish that felt pretty good. When it came out of the water, we knew we had a special fish. We had no net with us that day, so after quite a battle and getting it to the canoe's edge several times we hoisted anchors and my son paddled to shore. We beached my first muskie and the catch of a lifetime.
