I was wading down one of my favorite streams when I had this Mepps moment.
I came to a deep, brush-filled hole underneath a bridge and decided to cast my #1 black & white Aglia just past on of the bridge's pillars. Upon retrival, this beatiful spotted bass darted out from a nearby brush pile and nailed it.
Moments later, while making my way back up-stream, I casted the same Aglia spinner on the up-side of a swift, medium depth rapid, and hooked this magnificent smallie; and let me tell you, the fight was on. This beauty jumped clean out of the water six times, and kept racing upstream, away from me. She's not the biggest smallmouth I've ever caught; but she was one of the best fights I've had in some time. Mepps is, indeed, the world's number 1 lure!
