Well,it was a beautiful Saturday morning. I was watching my 3 nephews while the parents were on a weekend getaway. We were fishing at the grandparents farm pond. It was my girlfriend Kendra, nephews Shalico, Ezra, Jack, and lil Brealunn observing from stroller. I was busy baiting hooks with worms. Taking off bluegill one after the other and putting them in the basket for some good 'ole supper later that evening.. The bite started to slow down at about 11:30 AM. So I decided to get my old faithful Black Fury out of the tackle box. I went over by this log in the water fishing from the bank, of course. I threw a long cast parallel to the shore and caught a 6" black crappie. I threw out one more cast and nothing. On the third cast, I pulled the lure past the log and, wham, the fight was on. The bass jumped out of the water trying to get old faithful out of its mouth to no avail. I yelled to my nephew to bring the net and at that time he went into the log. I thought for sure he was going to get tangled up and break my line. But I took it easy and the large bass bolted out from under that log once again jumping put of the water. But, I had him hooked good and in the net he went. I showed the fish off to everyone fishing, including grandma, before releasing it back into the pond for someone else to catch to one day. Hopefully, they will be as excited as I was to catch this fish. I only had a tape measure so I couldn't weigh the 21" largemouth.
