I was fishing near Wilson, NY Thanksgiving weekend and checked the East Branch of 12 Mile Creek almost on a whim to see where the water levels were. It's been very low much of the fall, and since it rained a fair amount recently, I thought, "Why not?"
A short walk off the road found several deeper pools that were swarming with spawning Browns, so back to the car for my gear I went. It took quite a while, but eventually this guy swam up in front of me and I flipped my Mepps spinner just past him and gave it a twitch. The trout whirled on it and smashed it immediately and the fight was on. At 15 pounds this Brown marks a personal best for me.
