Fishing Spinney Mt. Reservoir from my boat, we had perfect water and weather and had tried a number of different lures, getting pike to follow them, but, not getting strikes that amounted to anything. I went back to my Mepps Aglia and just stuck with casting near weed beds and hooked this nice 19 inch rainbow, fat as a football, just as the weather began to deteriorate. We got it landed, measured and returned to the water quickly (Spinney Mt. Requires all trout under 20 inches be returned to the water), then beat a hasty retreat across the lake as the storm blew in, raising 2 to 3 foot whitecaps in about five minutes. We'll be back to this lake again soon with more Mepps to try on the trout and pike.
