This was the first time going to fish the Kankakee River and we weren't sure exactly what was in there to catch. We were there for about half-hour to 45 mins and I decided to go down to a point where a little creek joined the Kankakee. I was there about 10 minutes and then I was reeling in and about 5-7 foot of the bank I see a big fish take my lure. Fought him for about 5 minutes and when I got him on shore, my friend was like dude that's a northern. I was pretty hyped up after that. That's my story about my first northern pike.
