I was fishing with my dad on a slow day. We spent the morning throwing spinners in the shallows and the only signs of life we saw were carp. After a few hours we decided to scout and search for some suspended fish. I threw on a Black Fury to a bottom bouncer weight in order to get it to troll deeper since that's where we were making fish on our electronics. All of the sudden, fish on! We had 5 lines out at the time and at first I thought I had maybe a 6 lb catfish as it was giving the patented head shake. I fought it for a minute or two thinking that and then we got the first look at it and my dad said "Teeth!". That prompted him to get the larger net, and that's when the fish decided to show me its power. It took off ripping drag and swimming wherever it wanted to. I just hung on hoping I got a good hook in while my dad spun the boat so our lines wouldn't get in the way. I got it to the boat about 5 times but as soon as it was close it would take off under the boat, to the left, right, and every way. After about 10 minutes of fighting, he finally slowed down a bit and my dad scooped him into the net. It was a particularly good catch for me considering there was a bet for who would catch one over 45 inches and I had gotten really close the week before. That said, there's nothing more rewarding than fighting a nice musky, Thank you Mepps!
