The trip started with a hour drive up the Smith Dorren Road, then a 3 km portage down Buller Creek. Taking two trips down to the lake we had all the gear to canoe the entire lake that day. Knowing the lake very well I knew where we had to go and paddled around four to five minutes to the spot. My friend made a cast and hooked the fish and lost it as quick as he had it hooked. I threw my hook into the water and as it hit the water the fish hammered my six pound line stretching it, and I released the tension and let it and fought this fish for a while as I brought it to the canoe I couldn't believe my eyes and got it in the net. We limited out that day with lakes and Cutthroat and a few white fish. Couldn't have done it without the Mepps and I take the lure on every fishing trip I go and it keeps producing massive fish.
